Support smaller NGO's that lack your technical capacity.
● Social Action: "Institutional Mentorship" Program – Train grassroots organizations (neighborhood committees, women's groups) in project design and governance. "FUNDEPRODE acts as an umbrella organization, strengthening democratic social fabric by transferring skills and capacities to community-based organizations."
Strengthening Democracy from the Grassroots
FUNDEPRODE's commitment to Human Rights and democratic development is materialized through an approach of technical solidarity and capacity transfer. We recognize that the social fabric of a nation is strengthened from its foundations, in the communities and in the organizations that work directly with the most vulnerable citizens.
Central Objective: Social Action through "Institutional Mentoring"
This project is born from the need to close the technical and management gap that exists between large civil society organizations and those that are smaller, community-based, or grassroots. FUNDEPRODE takes on a proactive role as an "umbrella" or "mothership" organization, whose purpose is not only to execute its own programs but also to empower other key actors.
- Support for Smaller NGOs: Many essential organizations lack the technical capacity in critical areas (access to international funding, resource management, monitoring, and evaluation). We provide this high-level mentoring to ensure their sustainability and the expansion of their impact.
- Capacity Building for Grassroots Organizations: The focus is placed on groups essential for community life and local governance, such as neighborhood committees, women's groups, youth associations, and community networks. Through intensive workshops and personalized support, FUNDEPRODE trains these leaders in:
- Project Formulation with a Human Rights Approach: From need identification to drafting funding proposals, ensuring that the project design is effective and respects international standards.
- Governance and Institutional Transparency: Establishment of solid internal structures, transparent fund management, accountability, and strategic planning—essential elements for generating citizen trust and accessing resources.
The Impact on the General Citizenry
FUNDEPRODE's interest in contributing to the general citizenry is the cornerstone of this program. By strengthening these grassroots organizations, we are not simply improving the management of an NGO; we are, directly and indirectly, strengthening the democratic social fabric.
When a neighborhood committee can formulate a viable project to improve access to potable water or when a women's group secures funding for an economic empowerment program, this results in:
- Increased Local Advocacy Capacity: Communities gain the tools to demand and actively participate in the decision-making processes that affect their daily lives.
- Vulnerability Reduction: Local organizations become more resilient and effective in addressing critical social problems (violence, education, health), which positively impacts the rights of their members.
- Promotion of Democratic Culture: Participation, transparency, and accountability are promoted from the base, setting a precedent for good governance at the national level.
In summary, through "Institutional Mentoring," FUNDEPRODE invests in the potential of civil society, ensuring that human rights defenders and community leaders have the tools to generate lasting and autonomous change for the benefit of all citizens.
